EPIC No Frack Event

A Call to Action — Thank You for Attending!

Saturday June 25, 2011
at Ithaca College

Thank You — but don't relax just yet!

The EPIC No-Frack Event is now history, but the threat still lives! Keep the momentum up! Contact your legislators and local town boards and raise the serious issues we have come to understand all too well. (And check out Jeff & Jodi's upcoming Camp-OFF.)

The EPIC No-Frack Event was a unique opportunity for scientists and citizens, experts and newbies, from all parts of the country (and even some from overseas) to argue, persuade, cross-pollinate, and expose the seriousness of the issue and the danger we are in from hydrofracking. The vibe was upbeat and positive — people from all walks of life coming together to take control of their environment and wrestle it from the clutches of the rich and powerful Gas Industry and the politicians in its pocket.

The New York State legislature ended its 2011 session this past weekend without any movement on a hydrofracking ban, moratorium, or re-scoped SGEIS. (The Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the Oil, Gas and Solution Mining Regulatory Program is based on the DEC's 1992 GEIS. On 12/30/2009 the EPA issued a letter stating: "EPA is concerned that over the past 17 years since the 1992 GEIS was written, the 'existing' environment and conditions in New York State have changed sufficiently that using the information from that report as a baseline for the dSGEIS will not take into account the cumulative impacts from habitat fragmentation, population increase, and climate change that may have occurred during that time." Further, it also does not include the events and research that have transpired since 2009. The SGEIS is woefully out of date and inaccurate before it is even issued.)

So keep working, organizing, and joining forces. The Gas Industry loves the fact that we have so many separate groups. But we can have one voice, it will be loud and strong, and it will shout "Ban Hydrofracking!"

  • Connect with others regarding ongoing issues and outrage surrounding hydrofracking.
  • Experience the rare opportunity to listen to many well-known speakers in one venue — representing science, economics, health, legal opinion, and citizens with first-hand experience with fracking.
  • Movies — Screen cutting-edge documentary films by independent filmmakers.
  • Music — Hear live music with a message.
  • Learn what you can do to be involved and protect your wealth, health and welfare.

Converge, join the people's rally, lay the foundation of an uprising as seen from the Middle East to the Midwest. Paint our message in the sky with letters 50 miles high: "NO FRACKING WAY!!" Hasn't the shale game gone on long enough? Let's just finish it off and ban frack. Amplify your voice and your power! Unite, become unstoppable!

Note: We have charged $15,000 on our credit cards to cover
the expenses for EPIC and make it FREE to the public.
If you can help defray our costs, that would be great!
Thanks!
